Playstation 3 and Hulu

From all the research I've done, and the actual experience of trying it, Hulu does not work with the built-in browser on the Playstation 3 (PS3) as of this writing. The flash version is not new enough to support the site...which is too bad. From what I've read regarding Flash for Linux on the PS3, no official Adobe plugin exists - as the PS3 uses a PPC based processor...meaning that you're stuck to the free alternatives, which do not yet support the type of streaming required for Hulu.

With all the hoopla regarding the PS3 being the center of the media center (and I'd love for it to be - the interface is wonderful), not having a modern flash version cripples any online video potential. Here's hoping future PS3 updates will make this post irrelivant.

The PS3 browser needs better flash support. I hope SONY/Adobe can get the PS3's browser updated soon, as it makes a mockery of SONY'S "next gen multi media hub" hype. The flash was outdated before the PS3 was released.

What gets me is all the emphasis on playing new media types - HD video files etc. - and none on online video formats. I'd rather not put a PC under the TV, but I might have to.

It's been done: the PS3 came out with Flash 9 support with firmware 2.50 around October 15... which was the day that Flash 10 was released.

Hulu works on the PS3 now, within the Game OS (I watched Heroes with my brother on it). but PS3 Linux users are still stuck without Adobe Flash and only have Gnash/swfdec as an alternative, and those don't work with Hulu.

Confirmed. Hulu works in PS3 browser now. I've had alot of instability since the update that enable this though...the browser shouldn't be able to lock up the PS3 but mine sure is.
